Peaky Blinders
Peaky Blinders is an excellent new addition to the Netflix streaming library in October.
Peaky Blinders take place in 1920s England after the end of the first World War. The Peaky Blinders are a gang whose name derives from their use of razors sewn into their caps which they use to blind and otherwise injure their enemies.
Think of Peaky Blinders as a cross between the Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire. Peaky Blinders is 6 episodes of compelling story telling that will keep you riveted from beginning to end.
Marco Polo
Marco Polo as Netflix original series will be coming to Netflix December 12th.
There are high hopes for the series produced by the Weinstein Company, who produced such hit films as, The Road and Inglorious Bastards.
Marco Polo will showcase a world replete with greed, betrayal and sexual intrigue.
Marco Polo will be Netflix's first attempt at producing a historical drama, up till now they have focused on more contemporary shows such as House of Cards.
Netflix picked up Marco Polo after Starz passed on it. Whether Marco Polo will be a hit remains to be seen but the level of talent involved thus far is promising.
The shows includes producers and directors that have been involved with Game of Thrones and True Blood.
Look for Marco Polo to be another solid addition to an already award winning line up of Netflix produced shows.
Don't Miss: Horses of Gods
Horses of Gods is about two brothers growing up in a brutally harsh slum in Morocco. There they are ensnared in a web of poverty, injustice and violence spawned by fundamentalist Islam.
If you ever wondered where suicide bombers come from this is it. The dire existence of these Moroccan poor creates the perfect incubator to produce a hopeless and naïve suicide bomber.
Horses of Gods received a perfect 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Steven Holden of the New York Times states Horses of Gods is "A compelling contemplation of the roots of Islamic terrorism in poverty and hopelessness".
Horses of the Gods is available on Netflix streaming.
Sherlock
Netflix is the only platform where you can watch the award winning show, Sherlock, starring Bennedict Cumberbatch without having to purchase each individual episode.
Sherlock has been recently picked up for a fourth season to be aired on BBC in 2016
The Unbelievers
The Unbelievers is a documentary which follows Richard Dawkins on a tour around the globe preaching his ideas on Atheism.
The arguments he makes, whether you agree with them or not, are though provoking. For instance, he argues if God created the universe then what was God doing before he created the universe?
Dawkins further argues that organized religion is in it's death throes as it can not withstand the reason and logic that has come from Science. Science is now able to answer the questions that religion previously tried but failed to answer.
The overall premise of Dawkins is that we should focus on Life before Death instead of fixating on the religious notion of Life after Death.
The Unbelievers is available on Netflix streaming in October.
Happy Valley
The newest Netflix produced show doesn't get the hype of their headliners, Orange is the New Black and House of Cards, but the BBC produced cop drama may be the best.
Happy Valley is anything but Happy as it follows the bleak day to day of a beat cop in a small town in England. Her daughter recently committed suicide leaving her to care for a rambunctious grandchild.
The grandson is the result of her daughter's rape, so even though she knows part of her daughter made the child, she also has to live with the fact that he is also the prodigy of the rapist.
Things get really interesting when said rapist is released from prison and returns home to Happy Valley.
Like other British shows, Sherlock, Derek and Luther, Happy Valley has top notch acting and well drawn out characters.
If you have yet to binge watch a show on Netflix, Happy Valley may well indeed convert you. The six suspenseful episodes will make you want to move from one to the next without interruption.
Happy Valley is available to stream on Netflix.

In A World
Think back to the last movie trailer you have seen in the theater, the ones you remember from being a kid. Who doesn't remember the one that start with the dramatic...In a World....far way...in a different time.
These trailers have been dominated by a couple of guys with deep, dramatic voice. In a World tells the humorous tale of a young women trying to break into this male dominated industry.
The scene where Lake Bell impersonates a young woman asking her in a mousy voice where a Jamba Juice is worth watching the movies for.
In a World will be available on Netflix Streaming 10/6/14.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Available 10/22/14
